In Brazil, in the Acre state, a new syncretic religion appeared in the beginning of the 20th century. It associates to Catholic rituals possession dances of Candomblé, from Africa, and also Amazon Indian hallucinogenic practices. This new religion draws its substance from a magic drink, extracted from two plants of the forest, called Santo Daime, “God ’ s words”.
