The North Magnetic pole, which is pointed by every compasses in the world, moves permanently and reverses cyclically every 250 000 years.
Two geologists, Canadian and French ones, charged of measuring its exact position, noticed during their last mission on the pack ice that the speed of the magnetic pole shift had accelerated spectacularly: 120 km instead of the 40 km estimated every year, which means 300 meters per day! Thanks to the paleomagnetism, we know that the magnetic pole shifts from the north to the south, but the last shift dates back 780 000 years… Will such a huge event happen sooner than expected?
