If you wish to submit your images, it's here!

The CNRS Images collection is also enriched by your images (photos, films, video sequences).

Images submitted to our collections are managed in a database accessible online, enriched with metadata, saved and archived, thus benefiting from increased visibility.

Conditions for submission

  • Images produced as part of research carried out in a laboratory under the supervision or co-supervision of the CNRS
  • At least one of the authors of each image must be listed in Reseda

Selection criteria

We take into account technical aspects (file quality and size), aesthetic aspects (visual quality, legibility, diversity of framing) and legal aspects (personality rights, non-exclusivity, etc.).

How to submit your images ?

Provide files of the best possible quality

  • Photos: ideally, provide the original file. Files must be at least 1,200 pixels wide, in uncompressed Tiff or Jpeg format
  • Videos: MPGE4 format (if possible H264, 1920*1080, 16/9 25fps) or .mov. If several video sequences are submitted, we can make an end-to-end series of videos that we will validate with you.

You can use any type of file deposit service (filesender, mycore, wetransfer, etc.).

Provide your laboratory agreement

The images will be attached to the laboratory's media gallery with a URL (e.g. https://images.cnrs.fr/laboratoire/umr5553) if one exists.

Provide the author(s) agreement

  • If you are the author: confirm that you have not already transferred your rights to a journal or institution
  • If you are not the author / if you have co-authors: provide the names and contact details of the authors

Provide the agreement of the persons represented

If your photos/films represent recognisable people, we will provide you with an image rights assignment form for them to sign.

Confirm that the following credits/copyrights are acceptable to you

  • Photos: © Author(s) / acronyms of their laboratories / CNRS Images

  • Videos: © Acronyms of the laboratory(ies) / CNRS - Year

You may also choose to place your images under a Creative Commons licence (specify the licence chosen).

Provide the name(s) of the scientist(s) responsible for the research

Provide a brief description of the images submitted

  • The subject of each photo or video sequence (what is represented)
  • The type of images (e.g. microscopy images with magnification, modelling, etc.)
  • The research related to this image (or a link to the project presentation page)
  • The name of the research programme, if applicable

Information on the subject of the images and the context of the research concerned must be given in French.

Once the deposit has been accepted, we may ask you for more information about the images selected.

CNRS Images,

Our work is guided by the way scientists question the world around them and we translate their research into images to help people to understand the world better and to awaken their curiosity and wonderment.
